CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Saluki Women's Volleyball team looks to bounce back in this year's edition of Austin Peay's Governors Classic. The Salukis will face off against SIU-Edwardsville, Gardner-Webb, and Austin Peay on Friday and Saturday.

WEEKEND SCHEDULE:

Friday: vs. SIUE, 10 a.m.
Friday: vs. Gardner-Webb, 4 p.m.
Saturday: at Austin Peay, 2 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY:

The Salukis will play sister school SIU-Edwardsville for the fifth time. SIUE leads the all-time series 3-1. The most recent match between the two was an SIUE victory in Carbondale on September 20, 2024.
SIU will face Gardner-Webb for the first time.
Southern will face host school Austin Peay for the fifth time as well. The Dawgs lead the all-time series 3-1. Most recently, SIU swept the Governors on September 14, 2024.

QUICK HITS:

The Southern Illinois Women's Volleyball team was picked eighth in the annual coaches' Missouri Valley Conference preseason poll. Northern Iowa led the poll once again with 119 points and 9 of the 11 first-place votes.
The Salukis finished 13-17 (7-9 MVC) in 2025, tying for 7th in The Valley with Bradley and missing the conference tournament.
After three weeks of regular season play, the Salukis hold a 5-4 record and are on a four-game losing streak.
Head Coach Brittany Harry continues her second season with Southern on Thursday. The Champaign, Illinois native has a career record of 328-199, which includes 5-4 record in 2026, a 7-13 MVC record, and a 26-5 season with a Lone Star Conference Championship at West Texas A&M in 2024.
SIU is coming off a 0-3 weekend at the Hawkeye Invitational that was hosted at Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa.
Southern fell to Big 10 member Iowa 3 sets to 1; lost to Incarnate Word 3 sets to 0; and dropped their match against Missouri State 3 sets to 0.
True freshman opposite hitter McKenzie Moeller was named to the Hawkeye Invitational all-tournament team. Moeller tallied 42 kills, 23 digs, and 48 points on the weekend. Per set, those numbers tabulate to 4.2 kills, 2.3 digs, and 4.8 points.
