Salukis travel to Evansville for first MVC matchup

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois women's soccer will look to extend its program-record winning streak Saturday when the Salukis travel to Evansville for their first Missouri Valley Conference matchup of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT at Arad McCutchan Stadium.
Southern enters the match at 6-2-0 after five consecutive victories, including four straight shutouts. The Salukis have outscored opponents 12-0 during the current streak and have allowed just four goals through eight matches.
Last Time Out
The Salukis defeated UT Martin 1-0 on Sept. 13, with Victoria Hassan scoring the game-winning goal in the first half. The victory marked Southern's fifth consecutive win and set a new program record.
Reagan Miller played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded her fifth consecutive shutout. Miller was later named MVC Goalkeeper of the Week for her performances against SIUE and UT Martin.
Salukis Among MVC Leaders
Southern Illinois has established itself as one of the conference's top defensive teams early in the season. The Salukis lead the MVC in goals allowed with just four conceded through eight matches and also lead the conference with six shutouts.
Miller has been central to that success. She leads the MVC in save percentage at .864 and has recorded four shutouts in seven appearances.
Offensively, the Salukis have scored 18 goals and rank second in the conference in goals per game at 2.25. Southern has also recorded 19 assists, with Nao Katamoto leading the MVC with seven.

Preseason Honors
Southern Illinois was selected fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference preseason poll with 59 points. Junior Guliana Balistreri earned a spot on the preseason all-conference team.
Brooke Gosse received MVC Player of the Week recognition Aug. 18 after scoring twice against Western Illinois. Penny Warner also earned the weekly award following her hat trick in Southern's program-record 8-0 victory over Alabama A&M.
Reagan Miller was named MVC Goalkeeper of the Week on Sept. 15 after recording two shutouts and helping the Salukis extend their winning streak to five matches. The honor marked her third career MVC Goalkeeper of the Week selection.
