Salukis Secure 1-0 Victory over Lindenwood

CARBONDALE, Ill. — The Salukis and Lions played a tightly contested first 70 minutes before Nao Katamoto lasered the first and only goal of the match in SIU's 1-0 win Thursday night.
Lindenwood consistently pushed forward, keeping the Saluki defense on its toes and testing SIU's back line throughout the first 45 minutes.
The intensity continued into the second half as neither team was willing to give an inch. As the match remained scoreless, the Salukis finally broke through in the 71st minute. Nao Katamoto sent a powerful strike from distance that found the back of the net and gave SIU a 1-0 lead. The teams remained evenly matched through the final minutes, with both sides competing at a high level and creating opportunities. Lindenwood outshot SIU 11-7 but could not equalize late.
Reagan Miller recorded a save on a strong defensive night for the Salukis.
