Ryan Netemeyer is in his first season as a student assistant on the Saluki Baseball staff in 2019. He will assist associate head coach P.J. Finigan with the Saluki pitching staff.
One of the greatest closers in Missouri Valley Conference history, Netemeyer ended his career with a school-record 37 saves, which ranks second in MVC history. He was a three-time All-MVC closer and led the MVC in saves twice. He was named a semifinalist for National Pitcher of the Year and NCBWA Stopper of the Year in 2017.
In addition, Netemeyer was a two-time MVC Scholar-Athlete while pursuing a degree in engineering. After completing that degree in December 2018, Netemeyer will pursue a master's degree at SIU while working with the SIU pitchers.
