Alex Morgan is in her first season as the graduate assistant director of operations for the SIU track and field and cross country teams.
Morgan's name should be familiar to Saluki nation, as she competed last indoor season for Southern as a graduate transfer. She earned all-conference honors with a third place finish in the shot put at the 2016 MVC Indoor Championships.
The Ventura, Calif. native transferred to SIU from the University of Oklahoma, where she was an accomplished discus thrower and ended her Sooners' career ranked in the top-five in school history in the event.
Last season, Morgan honed her coaching skills as a volunteer assistant coach alongside throws coach J.C. Lambert, whom she helped with a vast array of tasks that included documenting and filming the Salukis' performances.
Morgan earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma and is pursing a graduate degree from SIU in rehabilitation counseling.
