Volleyball To Host Evansville On Saturday in MVC Play

Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois University Carbondale (7-10, 2-6 MVC) will host rival Evansville (4-14, 1-7 MVC) on Saturday, October 13 at 7 p.m. in an important MVC match in Davies Gym.

"It's always a dog fight when we play Evansville. It's a good, clean rivalry not nasty. Our kids play hard against each other and battle. They have some good players, the matches are always good and I don't expect anything less," said Sonya Locke, Saluki head coach.

"We need to win matches to get into the top six spots if we want to get into the MVC tournament. We're in seventh and that won't get us in. This is an opportunity to get closer to our goals and winning is the only way to do that."

SIU beat Western Illinois on Tuesday and last weekend beat Drake and lost to Creighton in MVC play.
