Salukis Swept By Illinois State

Carbondale, Ill. - Despite a .303 hitting percentage, Southern Illinois University Carbondale (8-14, 3-9 MVC) was swept 30-22, 30-20, 35-33 by Illinois State (12-8, 8-3 MVC) on Friday, October 26. The Redbirds have beaten the Salukis 22 straight times dating back to SIU's last win in the series on October 12, 1990.
Kristie Kemner had 17 kills and 12 digs during a .359 (17 kills, 3 errors, 39 attempts) hitting performance. Megan Baumstark had a big night with 45 assists and 10 digs. She also added five kills with no errors on 11 attempts for a .455 hitting percentage. Jenny Noel had 11 kills and Lindsey Schultz continued her strong hitting with 9 kills and two errors in 20 attempts for a .350 hitting percentage.
The Redbirds hit .374 to SIU's .303 and had 9.5 blocks to just one for the Salukis.
The Salukis host Indiana State on Saturday, October 27 at 5 p.m. in Davies Gym.
