Men Get 5th, Women Finish 8th at MVC Championships

NORMAL - The Southern Illinois University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships on Saturday, with the men placing fifth in the team standings, and the women finishing 8th.
Saluki sophomore Doron Giat garnered All-MVC honors by placing fifth overall in the men's race (25:07.12). Other men's times included: Joe Zeibert (16th, 25:38), Eli Baker (23rd, 25:48)Travis Pressler (27th),Ryan Hauser (34th (26:05), Steve Murray (35th, 26:09), Steve Orange (36th, 26:10), and Tony LaChiana (62nd, 27:47).
SIU finished with 105 points in the meet. Northern Iowa claimed the team title.
The Saluki women were led by sophomore Noa Beitler's 12th place showing (18:31). Other SIU time included: Katie Meehan (18th, 18:45), Julia Roundtree (35th, 19:33), Christen Carducci (49th, 19:56 and Erica Hall (71st, 24:04).
SIU finished with 176 points. Southwest Missouri State won the women's team title.
