Salukis Host Drake and Creighton In MVC Play

Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois University Carbondale (5-9, 1-5 MVC) will be home to host Drake (3-9, 0-5 MVC) and Creighton (5-7, 4-1 MVC) in two important MVC matches on October 5 & 6 respectively. Both matches will be played at Davies Gym at 7 p.m.
"We're fortunate to be home this weekend. It's important to win these home matches and it's getting to the point where we have to win any MVC matches if we're going to get in the tournament. We have to play good defense and pass and hit consistently," stated Sonya Locke, Saluki head coach.
"I don't expect Drake to be any less competitive than Creighton will be. They're both good teams. We'll have to stop Creighton's middle hitters because that's their forte and their setter likes to set the middle. Drake is pretty multifaceted so we have to focus on a variety of things and contain them."
The Salukis were swept by Drake and Creighton in 2000. SIU is coming off a 3-1 win over Murray State on Tuesday, September 25.
