Omaha, Neb. - Southern Illinois University (8-16, 3-11 MVC) was swept 30-26, 30-18, 30-17 by Creighton (12-9, 10-3 MVC) on Friday in Omaha. SIU's sixth straight loss eliminated the Salukis from the 2001 MVC Tournament in Normal, Illinois on November 23-24.
"It was not a very good match and we didn't pass the ball very well. We didn't play well offensively and only hit .026 percent in the last game," said Sonya Locke, Saluki head coach.
Qiana Nelson led SIU with 11 kills followed by Kristie Kemner's 7 kills. Kemner passed the 1000 kill mark during the game and now has 1004 career kills in her third season.
The Salukis will face Drake on Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa.
