Salukis Swept by Evansville in MVC Opener

Southern Illinois University opened the Missouri Valley Conference season with a tough 0-3 loss against the University of Evansville (5-3, 1-0 in MVC). The Salukis fall to 6-2 overall, 0-1 in MVC play, with the 13-15, 10-15, 4-15 loss. The Salukis swept Evansville in 1999.
Sophomore Kristie Kemner led SIU with 9 kills and 6 digs. Qiana Nelson (8 kills, 4 digs), Tara Cains (7 kills, 8 digs) , and Lindsey Schultz (7 kills) also contributed for the Salukis.
SIU's next action will be at the Conference Challenge Tournament at the University of Kentucky on September 15 and 16, in Lexington, Kentucky.
The Salukis' next home appearances will then be September 29 vs. SW Missouri State and September 30 vs. Wichita State. Both matches begin at 7 p.m. and will be played in Davies Gym.
