SIU Falls to Illinois State 69-60

Tarise Bryson scored 16 of his game-high 26 points to lead Illinois State to a come-from-behind 69-60 victory Thursday in Missouri Valley Conference basketball at Redbird Arena.
ISU trailed by two at halftime, but shot 56 percent from the field (14-of-25) in the second half and had just four turnovers in the final 20 minutes, out-scoring the Salukis 40-29 after intermission.
After SIU took a 4-0 lead, the Redbirds went on a 17-0 run which held the Salukis scoreless for nearly eight minutes as ISU took a 17-4 lead. After ISU stretched the lead to 26-15, SIU went on a 16-3 spurt to finish the first half up 31-29.
The Redbirds then opened the second half with a 13-2 run to take a 42-33 lead as the Salukis would never get closer than five for the rest of the game.
Kent Williams led the Salukis with 14 points while Jermaine Dearman added 12. Joshua Cross also grabbed eight rebounds to pace SIU.
SIU, now 13-12, 7-7, will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 17 at Northern Iowa. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
