Salukis Beat Tennessee-Martin In Five Games

Southern Illinois University Carbondale (4-7, 1-3 MVC) beat Tennessee-Martin (8-5, 2-1 OVC) in five games 30-20, 30-32, 30-24, 29-31, 15-9 on Tuesday, September 25 at Davies Gym.
"I'll take a win any day regardless of how pretty or ugly it is. A win is a win," said Sonya Locke, Salukis head coach. "I wish we could play with a high level of intensity and play that way all the time. We allowed ourselves to play at their level and they served a tough match. We did a good job the fifth game hitting .571."
Kristie Kemner led SIU with 20 kills, 8 digs and five aces while hitting .300 (20 kills, 5 errors, 50 attempts). Megan Baumstark had 57 assists, five digs and 3 aces. Tara Cains had 14 kills and 7 block assists and hit .400 (14 kills, 2 errors, 30 attempts). Lindsey Schultz continued her hot hitting (.350) with 8 kills, 1 error and 20 attempts with 2 solo blocks and eight block assists. Jenny Noel added 10 kills, 9 digs, 3 aces and 3 solo blocks.
The Salukis hit .249 to UT-Martin?s .212 and outblocked the Skyhawks 14 to 10.
Southern Illinois will be on the road this weekend on September 28 and 29 at Indiana State and Illinois State respectively.
