Volleyball Drops Evansville In Four Games

Evansville, Ind. - The Southern Illinois volleyball team dropped the host school Evansville in first round action of the Evansville Aces Invitational Friday night in four games (30-27, 27-30, 30-22, 30-23). The match was also a conference match and the win puts the Salukis at 6-3 in league play.
Senior Kristie Kemner (OH, Quincy, Ill., Quincy Notre Dame HS) recorded 18 kills and 17 digs for the Salukis. Setter Britten Follett (junior, Marengo, Ill., Marengo HS) dished out 46 assists, and had 12 digs and seven kills with a .385 hitting percentage. Seniors Qiana Nelson (OH, Kankakee, Ill., Kankakee HS) and Lindsey Schultz (MB,Valparaiso, Ind., Wheeler HS)added 13 kills apiece.
Southern Illinois out hit Evansville .221 to .176, but the Aces out blocked SIU 13.5 to ten. Tomorrow the Salukis begin play at 10 a.m. against IPFW. SIU's final match will be at 3 p.m. against the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
