Giat Named MVC Male Cross Country Runner Of The Week

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Coming off a season-best time at the Greater Louisville Invitational on Saturday, Southern Illinois University's Doron Giat has been named the Missouri Valley Conference's Male Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Giat clocked at 25:23 in the 8K race, placing fourth in a field of 226 student-athletes. Giat helped the Salukis to a fourth place team finish out of a field of 24 schools. Giat's time is the third-best 8K time in the Missouri Valley Conference this season.

Giat, a junior from Israel, has won the MVC's weekly honor two times this season and four times in his two-year career with the Salukis.

Giat and his teammates will be back in action on Oct. 12 at the Saluki Invitational.
