Volleyball Sweeps Creighton

Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois outside hitter Kristie Kemner (senior, Quincy, Ill., Quincy Notre Dame HS) had 16 kills and 12 digs as the Saluki volleyball team dropped Creighton in three games (30-14, 30-21, 30-27) Friday night in Davies Gym.
Kemner put herself at the top of SIU's all-time kill-dig double-double leader with 54 in her career. She also moved into second on SIU's all-time career kill list with 1,507. She needs 39 more to take the top spot from Dana Olden (1,545).
SIU hit .313 on the night. Kemner posted a .323 hitting percentage while teammates Lindsey Schultz (senior, MB, Valparaiso, Ind., Wheeler HS) hit .500 and Qiana Nelson (senior, OH, Kankakee, Ill., Kankakee HS) hit .320. Schultz had 11 kills. Nelson added 10 kills and 14 digs for her eighth double-double this year. Nelson led the team in aces with three.
Setter Britten Follett (junior, Marengo, Ill., Marengo HS) handed out 38 assists. She had three kills on seven attacks with no errors (.429). Follett also had six digs.
Libero Lisa Cuicci (junior, Portage, Mich., Portage Northern HS) recorded 12 digs.
Creighton's Janeen Piller led the Jays defensively with 15 digs.
The Salukis improve their record to 17-7 and 8-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference. They will face Drake tomorrow night at 7 p.m. in Davies Gym.
