Three Football Players Named Academic All-Conference

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Three Southern Illinois University football players were named to the Gateway Conference Academic All-Conference football team Monday, the league announced. Seniors Matt Anderson, Scott Everhart and Matt Scheffler were all named to the second team.
Anderson, an Information Systems Technology major with a 3.48 GPA, played in all 12 games and started five on the Saluki offensive line. He helped block for the nation's 10th-highest scoring offense (34.5 ppg) and 3rd-highest rushing offense (275.7 ypg). The Salukis averaged 5.4 yards per carry, and the offensive line allowed just 18 sacks on the year.
Everhart, who also majors in Information Systems Technology and carries a 3.31 GPA, became the school's record holder in career field goals made (36) and career points scored (234). He converted 6-of-11 field goal attempts on the season and 40-of-43 PATs. Everhart had a career-long 48-yard field goal against Western Illinois. He also punted and averaged 39.3 yards per punt and placed 19-of-52 punts inside the opponent 20.
Scheffler, a Civil Engineering major with a 3.64 GPA, played in all 12 games and started one. He finished the season with 10 tackles and also added one sack and three tackles for loss.
