Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois will host Evansville Saturday night at 7 p.m. in Missouri Valley Conference action. The Salukis are 19-8 overall and 10-5 in league play. The Purple Aces post a 5-23 overall record and a 2-13 conference mark coming into this week.
The Salukis secured an MVC tournament berth last weekend with a four-game win over Bradley Friday night. SIU will make it's first appearance to the Valley championships in four years.
"It was no secret that getting to the [MVC] tournament was one of our goals for this season," said head coach Sonya Locke. "But we aren't content with just making it. I've trained my players to think big, and we want the highest seed possible. Now some of that is out of our control, but we're not going to stress about it."
SIU defeated Evansville in four games at the Evansville Aces Invitational earlier this season. The Salukis went on to win the tournament with wins over IPFW and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Last year, SIU defeated the Aces in both conference matches.
Evansville will host the University of Tennessee Martin Thursday before heading to Carbondale for Saturday night's match.

Currently, Kemner ranks second on the all-time single season list for attack attempts (1171) and digs (416). She is fourth for kills in a single season with 469 this year.
