Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois University (6-2) will be back at Abe Martin Field on Friday to begin a three-game series with Eastern Michigan University (3-5).
"They must be a sound team if they beat Tennessee twice this year. Tennessee was a College World Series qualifier in 2001. EMU's top two pitchers played with Bill Clayton (SIU pitcher) in the Central Illinois Collegiate League last summer and they're good," said Dan Callahan, Saluki head coach.
The Salukis have won four in a row, but are coming off a 12-10 win over Tennessee-Martin yesterday and head coach Dan Callahan is looking to get the pitching back to the level it was in wins over Missouri, Notre Dame and MacMurray earlier this season.
"We had a good run of starting pitching until yesterday at Tennessee-Martin, but we did get a lot of pitchers (six) some work," added Callahan. Hopefully we can get back on the right track against Eastern Michigan and pitch the way we did early this season."
This weekend SIU host Eastern Michigan in single games on Friday (2 p.m.), Saturday (1 p.m.) and Sunday (12 p.m.) at Abe Martin Field.
