Ticket Office Open Until 5 p.m. to Meet Demand

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University athletic ticket office will extend its hours of operation an extra hour to help meet demand for single-game tickets to Thursday night's home opener against Kentucky Wesleyan.
The ticket office, located in Lingle Hall next to SIU Arena, will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. this week. Tickets can also be purchased by phone at 618-453-2000.
A large crowd is expected for the team's first night game since the 1973 season, and the athletic department is urging fans to avoid lines at the stadium by purchasing advance tickets.
"With an event of this magnitude, we're expecting a large walk-up crowd," Athletic Director Paul Kowalczyk said. "We'll have extra staff on-hand to sell tickets as quickly as possible, but the most convenient way to buy tickets is to pick them up in advance."
The game has been billed "Union Workers Night" in honor of local IBEW 702, which installed lights at the stadium this summer free of charge. After the game, there will be a fireworks show.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for kids high school and under. For group ticket packages, please call Julie Beck at 453-2000.
