Volleyball Set To Begin Preseason Practices August 8

Carbondale, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University Carbondale volleyball team will begin preseason practices on Thursday, August 8 at 8:30 a.m. The Salukis will have two practices a day August 8-10 and August 12,13, 15 and 16 with single practices on August 11, 14 and 17. All practices will be held in Davies Gymnasium.

Head coach Sonya locke begins her twelfth season with the Salukis, and returns six seniors and six athletes who started matches. SIU is coming off a 11-19 overall record and a 5-13 MVC season.

"I'm looking forward to getting this team out on the court for the 2002 season," said Sonya Locke, Saluki head coach. "Now we'll get to see the rewards of all the hard work that has been done this summer."
