Normal, Ill. - For the second straight year, the Southern Illinois University women's golf team posted a second-place finish at the Illinois State Redbird Classic which came to a close earlier today.

SIU, who posted a final mark of 931, took runner-up honors to the host Redbirds who controlled the two-day event with a score of 894. Bradley (940) and Northern Iowa (940) then tied for third, while UMKC (941) rounded out the top five, respectively.

Redshirt freshman Tiffany Fritsche, who competed in a collegiate tournament for the first time, tied for third place to lead all Saluki golfers. Fritsche fired rounds of 75 and 76, before finishing strong with a second-best mark of 74. Also finishing in the top-10 was Megan Tarrolly who placed sixth with a three-round score of 229. Tarrolly clubbed the team's best single round score of 73.

SIU will return to action at the Northern Iowa Panther Classic on Sept. 22-23.
