Salukis battle in Kentucky for Colonel Classic Top Spot

Richmond, KY— University of Southern Illinois Women's Golf will compete in the Colonel Classic hosted by Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky, on Monday and Tuesday.
The tournament will take place at the University Club at Arlington, which is a 72-par course on 6,069 yards. The event will consist of 36 holes on Monday, with the final 18 coming on Tuesday.
The Dawgs will compete against nine universities, including Akron University, Bellarmine University, Butler University, Indian University Indianapolis, Northern Kentucky University, Souther Indiana, Youngstown State, and EKU.
Last time out, Southern Illinois recorded their season best, an eighth-place finish at the Red Rocks Invitational. Kayla Sayyalinh led Southern Illinois, tying for 24th at 10-over par. Ella Overstreet followed in 30th place at 12-over, while Calli Smith finished 38th at 15-over.
Allie Santos placed 55th at 27-over, and Amelia Zingler rounded out the Saluki lineup with a 67th-place finish at 36-over.

Coach Sam Sambusrky expects her squad to make even larger strides this time around.
