Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Southern Illinois University's men's golf team jumped up two spots to claim a sixth-place finish at the Morton B. Harris Intercollegiate which ended Tuesday at the Cape Girardeau Country Club.

The Salukis posted a final score of 865 which stood just 13 strokes behind tournament winner Eastern Illinois (852). Saint Louis (853), host Southeast Missouri State (854), Tennessee Tech (858) and Murray State (862) then rounded out the tight top-five.

SIU headed into the tournament's final day of play standing in eighth place, but received some solid golf from Tim Hoss who led all Salukis with a three-round mark of 214. Hoss was solid from the get-go, registering rounds of 74 and 73 before concluding with a career-low of 67.

Grant Goltz also played well for the Dawgs. Goltz (216) posted scores of 72, 71 and 74. His round of 71 also marked a career-low.

SIU will return to action at the D.A. Weibring Classic on Sept. 16-17.
