Carbondale, Ill. - The women's volleyball team will begin conference action on the road this weekend at Wichita State Friday night and Southwest Missouri State Saturday night. Both matches are slated to start at 7 p.m.
"Starting on the road poses a challenge to us," said head coach Sonya Locke. "Wichita State and SMS play two different paced games."
Locke believes the faster paced game, more to the Salukis liking, will be against Wichita State. SMS will probably play more of a net game which may be a challenge for Southern Illinois.
The Salukis come into this weekend with a 6-2 overall record with two recent losses at home against UMKC and Southeast Missouri State. The Shockers have a 5-4 record, and the Bears hold a 4-3 record going into this weekend.
"We will be facing tough opponents this weekend," said Locke. "Our conference is good, and we'll have to play our best volleyball from here on out."
