Softball Finishes 3-1 At Saluki Fall Invitational

The Southern Illinois University softball team finshed with a 3-1 record at the Saluki Fall Invitational September 14-15 at Carbondale High School.
SIU beat St. Mary-of-the-Woods 11-0 and Tennessee-Martin 8-0 on Saturday. The Salukis lost a close game to SIU-Edwardsville 2-1 on Sunday followed by a 7-2 win over John A. Logan to finish with a 3-1 record and in a three-way tie for the tournament title with SIU-Edwardsville and John A. Logan.
Junior transfer Jenny Doehring had a big weekend with two home runs, five hits and six RBI in the first two games alone. Freshman Katie Louis added a home run and two hits against Tennessee-Martin. On the mound sophomore Amy Harre (1-0) shut out Tennessee-Martin allowing just three hits in five innings and also pitched the first five innings against SIUE. Renee Mueller wrapped up the game and suffered SIU's only loss. Mueller (1-0) picked up a win in the shut out of St. Mary-of-the-Woods. Katie Kloess (1-0) picked up a win in the 7-2 victory over John A. Logan.
The two-day tournament, featured six teams, including SIU, the University of Tennessee-Martin, SIU-Edwardsville, John A. Logan College, Rend Lake College and St. Mary-of-the-Woods College.
