Cedar Falls, Iowa - Southern Illinois University's women's golf team carded a 36-hole score of 673 to win over third place earlier today at the Northern Iowa Panther Classic.

The Salukis, who occupied third place after shooting a 333 in their first round, struggled to a 340 on the tournament's final day of competition.

Freshman Abbigail Johnson shot rounds of 82 and 83 en route to tying for eighth place to lead all SIU golfers. Also placing in the tournament's top-15 were redshirt freshman Tiffany Fritsche and Megan Tarrolly who each tied for 12th with 170 marks. Fritsche clubbed an 83 and 87, while Tarrolly turned in back-to-back 85s.

Thirty-four golfers competed in this year's event which took place at Beaver Hills Country Club. Host Northern Iowa (634) won the tournament, while UMKC (669), SIU and Creighton (679) rounded out the four-team field.

SIU will return to action on Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 28-29 when it competes at the University of Iowa Lady Northern Invitational.
