CARBONDALE, Ill. - Led by a fourth-place finish by Doron Giat, the Southern Illinois University men's cross country tied for fourth place out of 27 teams Saturday at the Greater Louisville Invitational.
Giat clocked in at 25:23.60 in the 8K race that included 226 competitors, and was joined in the top-10 by teammate Eli Baker, as the Marion native placed seventh with a time of 25:44.14.
Giat and Baker's times are both season-bests, and would rank them third and seventh, respectively, on the latest Missouri Valley Conference best list.
Tony LaChiana (19th, 26:38.13), Scott Mahon (65th, 27:47.8) and Ryan Hauser (68th, 27:52.32) rounded out the SIU top-five.
SIU finished with 152 points, tied with Berea College. Malone College won the meet with 86 points.
SIU will return to action on Oct. 12 when they host the Saluki Invitational.
