Men's Track and Field Will Compete At Redbird Open

Carbondale, Ill. - Most of the Southern Illinois University men's track and field squad will compete at the Redbird Open Friday in Normal, Ill.

The meet will begin at 2:30 with the field events. Teams competing will be Marquette, Arkansas State, Florissant Valley, Danville, Rend Lake College, Illinois State, SIU men, and Bradley women.

Coach Cameron Wright is looking forward to getting better marks in the field and running events this weekend, however, the sprinters and hurdlers will not be competing.

"It's a chance to get a feeling of the facility we will be competing at for the conference meet," said Wright. "There should be a pretty good field in a lot of events. Illinois State is very competitive in our conference and have a few guys at the top of the league right now, but so do we. I'm excited to see what we can do."
