Sambursky Named Gateway Conference Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Southern Illinois University sophomore quarterback Joel Sambursky was named the Gateway Conference's "Offensive Player-of-the-Week" on Sunday for his performance in SIU's 37-14 win over Indiana State.

Although he only threw for 173 yards, Sambursky accounted for four of the Salukis' touchdowns. He completed 12-of-20 passes, including three TD strikes and also carried the ball 10 times for 33 yards and a touchdown.

The Liberty, Mo. native led the Salukis to their first 5-0 start since 1991 and first win over the Sycamores in the last 10 meetings.
