The Division I-AA All Star Classic, scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 30, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., has been cancelled. Southern Illinois University running backs Tom Koutsos and Muhammad Abdulqaadir were both slated to play in the game.
The Football Network, in a press release issued Friday, said "due to certain fiscal realities," it would be unable to produce the game consistent with its vision of making it a "major showpiece for Division I-AA football."
Abdulqaadir is scheduled to play in another postseason all-star game, the Las Vegas All-American Classic, on Saturday, Jan. 17. Koutsos is still under consideration for several postseason all-star games.
