Softball's Amy Harre Named MVC Pitcher-Of-The-Week

St. Louis, Mo. - Southern Illinois University sophomore pitcher Amy Harre was named Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher-of-the-Week on Monday.
Harre, a Nashville, Ill. native, went 2-0 at the Bama Bash last weekend, leading SIU to the championship game. She didn't allow a run in SIU's shutout wins over Western Kentucky (7-0) and #22 Alabama (4-0) last weekend. She had a 0.00 earned run average, ten strikeouts and five walks in 13.1 innings. Harre allowed just seven hits, including just one double and a .156 opponents batting average, earning a spot on the Bama Bash All-Tournament Team.
In the upset of #22 Alabama, Harre struck out five, walked three and allowed five hits in 6.1 innings. She also struck out five, walked two and allowed two hits in seven innings versus W. Kentucky.
Harre is 4-0 for the year with a 0.00 era, 21 strikeouts, 10 walks and 11 hits allowed in 27.1 innings. The award is her sixth career honor and her first this season. Harre was named MVC Pitcher-of-the-Week five times last season.
Next weekend SIU will open Charlotte West Stadium on Friday, Feb. 28 against Syracuse at 3 p.m. followed by the Kay Brechtelsbauer Southern Classic on March 1-2, which will feature the new stadium dedication at 12 p.m. on March 1.
