MVC Track and Field Poll Finds SIU in the Middle

Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois University finds itself in the middle of the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field 2003 Prechampionship Coaches Poll. Both squads finished fifth at last year's indoor championship.
On a vote by league coaches, SIU men moved up one place to fourth from their fifth place finish at the meet last year. SIU women are picked to have the same fifth place finish as in 2002. By unanimous votes, Southwest Missouri State and the University of Northern Iowa have been selected as top-finishers in the eight-team women's field and the seven-squad men's field, respectively. UNI men and women were crowned champions at last year's meet.
