Noa Beitler Wins Track Athlete of the Week

Carbondale, Ill. - Noa Beitler has been selected as the Missouri Valley Conference track athlete of the week for her performance Saturday at the Smith Barney Invitational hosted by Butler University.
Beitler placed first in the mile-run with a season best time of 4:59.93. That time puts Beitler at the top of the MVC best list, as she is the first this season to break the 5-minute mark. A junior, Beitler finished fourth in a field of 34 competitors.
Melyssa Reinhardt, Indiana State, took the women's field honors clearing 5-10 in the high jump, an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Dirk Homewood, the University of Northern Iowa, was named the men's track athlete of the week. He won the 400m (48.14) and anchored UNI's 4x400 which set a UNI Dome record by more than two seconds (3:12.64).
Wichita State's Spencer Frame won the pole vault competition (16-6.75) to take the men's field athlete of the week award.
