Salukis Dominate Sprints--SIU had strength in numbers as the Salukis placed six in the 60m and five in the 200m. Kevin Mills tied his best time of the year in the 60m prelims, 6.88. He was third in the final (7.00) behind teammate Marvin Primo (6.99) while Kansas' Leo Bookman won the event (6.91). Maurice Moss (7.01) and Luke Stenberg (7.02) finished fifth and sixth. Brent Little was seventh (7.03), and Emmanuele Parris took the eighth spot (7.06).
Felix Anderson was runner-up in the 200m with his best time of the season, 22.07, followed by Primo (22.34), Parris (22.60), Stenberg (22.72), and Mills (23.01).
Junior B.J. Davis and Moss turned in career-bests in the 400m. Davis was first in 48.39 while Moss placed third in 50.02.
Freshman Ray Scotten was victorious in the pole vault clearing 16-8.75. Chris Cline won the 35lb. weight throw with a toss of 50-9.5.
The 4x400 relay unit of Davis, Anderson, Moss, and Orane Morgan ran to a third place finish with a season-best 3:17.39.
Morgan ran 1:54.38 in the 800m for fourth place. Eli Baker and Joe Byrne were fourth (8:34.29) and fifth (8:37.81), respectively, in the 3000m. Doron Giat finished fifth in the mile with his best time of the year, 4:15.11.
Little took third in the long jump (22-6.5) and Nyles Stuart followed closely in fourth (22-6.25). Jason Pochnok was sixth (21-8). Freddy Rule and Kellen Allen tied for fifth in the high jump, both clearing 6-4. Dayton Johnson was fourth in the triple jump (47-2.5) and Little was sixth (44-2.75). Cline finished fifth in the shot put (46-5.25).
