Winter Springs, Fla. - Southern Illinois' women's golf team placed sixth among 13 teams at the Spalding/Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational earlier this week. The two-day event took place at Tuscawilla Country Club.

The Salukis clubbed a two-round score of 629. Improving its second-round total by nine strokes, SIU finished 53 over par.

Individually, the Dawgs were led by Amy Rankin who tied for 21st with a 155. Rankin started the tournament with a 81, before closing with a 74. Megan Tarrolly followed close behind with a 157 to tie for 27th.

SIU returns to the links on March 13-14 at the NIU Snowbird in Tampa, Fla.
