Men's Tennis Wins Battle Against Colonels Of Eastern Kentucky

Murray, Ky. - The Southern Illinois University men's tennis team overpowered Eastern Kentucky Saturday afternoon, in a match played in Murray, KY, winning 5-2. SIU improves to 3-2 overall this spring, while the Colonels fall to 8-5.
The Salukis swept the doubles portion of the match with the sophomore/freshman duo of Lukasz Soswa and Bojan Ilievski winning their second match of the season at the No. 1 doubles spot. The tandem defeated John Kellert and Alvin Cheng, 9-7.
In singles action, junior Peter Bong defeated John Kellert, 6-3, 6-4, while freshmen Bojan Ilievski and Tomas Gonzalez both picked up fifth singles wins of the season at the Nos. 4 and 5 positions, respectively. Sophomore Julian Angel Botero also pulled out a win at the No. 6 spot over Billy Pfaffinger, 6-2, 6-1.
SIU will return home to host Murray State on Wednesday, April 2 at the University Courts, which are next to the SIU Arena. Results can be found at www.siusalukis.com.
