Carbondale, Ill. - Junior Megan Tarrolly finished tied for fifth to lead Southern Illinois to a third place finish earlier today, as the 8th Annual Saluki Invitational came to a close at Stone Creek Golf Club.
Despite extremely windy conditions, Tarrolly improved her second round score by five strokes en route to posting a total of 159 on the event. The native of Mequon, Wis., clubbed an 82 in day one, before finishing with a 77 in the final day of play.
Tiffany Fritsche, Amy Rankin and Sara Pate also finished among the top 15 individual placewinners. Fritsche tied for 11th with a 164 (79-85), while both Rankin (83-83) and Pate (84-82) tied for 15th with 166 marks, respectively.
SIU (653), who has won its own Saluki Invitational on two occasions, including 2002, finished behind tournament champion Murray State (641) and Arkansas State (650). Missouri Valley Conference foes SMS (659) and Bradley (660) rounded out the top five.
Not to mention, the Racers received a huge boost from Lee-Anne Pace who took this year's individual crown. Pace finished first out of 91 golfers competing. She fired rounds of 77 and 73 to finish with an impressive 150.
SIU will return to action at the Eastern Kentucky Colonel Classic April 10-12.
