Women's Track and Field Will Compete At Pacesetter Invitational

Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois University women's track and field team as well as some individuals from SIU's men's squad will travel to Indiana State this weekend for the Pacesetter Invitational.
Competition begins Friday with the women's and men's hammer throw and continue Saturday starting at 9:30 a.m. with the women's discus. The last event, the men's 4x400m relay, is scheduled for 5:45 p.m.
Teams competing in the women's field include Chicago State, Dayton, Eastern Illinois, Indiana State, Ohio State, SIU, SIU-Edwardsville, Valparaiso, Western Illinois, and Wisconsin-Milwaukee. On the men's side Ball State, Eastern Illinois Indiana State, Ohio State, Rend Lake, SIU, SIU-Edwardsville, Valparaiso, Western Illinois, and Wisconsin-Milwaukee will vie for a team title.
"This is a good meet with good schools so will be competitive," said head coach Connie Price-Smith. "We competed well at this meet last year, and as long as the weather is conducive we should turn in some good performances again this year."
