Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois University's head volleyball coach Sonya Locke announced the signing of two high school players to national letters of intent during the late signing period Thursday.
Claire Antoine, a 5-11 outside hitter from Scarborough, Ontario-Canada, is currently a senior at Sir Wilfrid Lauier High School. She plays for the Scarborough Solars club volleyball team.
SIU also signed Monica Laird, a 5-7 setter from Minneapolis, Minn. The South High School player is a also a member of the Northern Lights club team.
"We are very happy to have these two players joining our team along with the other players who we signed during the early signing period in November," said Locke. "Claire is very athletic, and will add some depth in the right side hitter position, and Monica will add some depth in the setting position. Both positions were left vacant by the seniors who played in those positions last season."
