Men's Golf in Seventh After Day One of MVCs

Silvis, Ill. - Southern Illinois University's men's golf team currently stands in seventh after day one of the Missouri Valley Conference Championships which opened earlier today at TPC at Deere Run. The Salukis shot a two-round score of 611.

SIU began the tournament with a 296, but struggled to a 315 in its second round.

Tim Hoss tied for 13th to lead all Saluki golfers with a two-round mark of 148. Hoss clubbed a 70 and 78, respectively. Dustin Stewart was the team's second-best individual placewinner. Stewart tied for 26th after firing rounds of 75 and 79.

Illinois State (576) currently leads the nine-team field, while Wichita State (582), SMS (589), Drake (596) and Northern Iowa (602) round out the top five.

The Salukis will conclude play at the MVC Championships with one final round of 18 holes tomorrow.
