Track and Field Will Compete at Billy Hayes Invitational Sunday

Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois University's track and field teams are in their final week of preparation before the Missouri Valley Conference championships next week. The Salukis will compete Sunday in the 25th annual Billy Hayes Invitational hosted by Indiana University.
The meet features a number of quality athletes from 38 teams and will begin at 11 a.m. with the women's javelin, hammer, and pole vault. The last event, the men's 4x400m relay, is scheduled for 4:25 p.m.
SIU will use this meet as a chance to qualify more athletes for the NCAA Mideast Regional meet May 30-31 at Ohio State. The Salukis already have eight people qualified in nine events.
