CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University (0-2) was swept by Denver 3-0 (30-18, 30-20, 30-17) in the first match of the Saluki Invitational on Saturday at Davies Gym.
Denver (3-0) dominated SIU in the first match of the day. The Pioneers outhit SIU .403 to .021. The Salukis were led by Jene' Pulliam's seven kills and Kelly Harman's five digs. Denver outblocked SIU 11 to five in the three game sweep. The Pioneers defeated Austin Peay 3-0 (30-25, 30-23, 30-24) later in the afternoon to win the 24th Saluki Invitational title.
The Salukis faced Iowa in the final match of the tournament at 7 p.m. Saturday.
