Volleyball Beats Appalachian State 3-1 At Butler Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Senior Kelly Harman's 11 kills, seven digs, three aces and three block assists led SIU to a 3-1 win over Appalachian State (2-6) at the Butler Invitational on Saturday in Indianapolis, Indiana.
SIU fell behind 1-0 before rallying to win the match 19-30, 30-28, 31-29, 30-27 for its second win of the year, improving to 2-6. Once again the SIU freshman played a big role in the outcome. Outside hitter Haley Hann added nine kills, nine digs and two aces, setter Holly Marita hit a team-high .462 (seven kills, one error, 13 attempts) with 37 assists, six aces and six digs and outside hitter Ashley Saverine chipped in with seven kills and 12 digs in SIU's first match of the day to lead the youth movement.
SIU followed the Appalachian State win with an immediate match with San Francisco at 5:30 p.m. in Hinkle Fieldhouse.
