INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Southern Illinois University freshman outside hitters Haley Hann and Ashley Saverine each posted double-doubles against San Francisco, but the Dons (12-0) went on to beat SIU 3-1 (31- 29, 30-17, 26-30, 30-18) at the Butler Invitational on Saturday in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Salukis (2-7) finished third at the tournament in Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Saverine posted her third double-double of the year with 10 kills and 14 digs, while Hann added 10 kills and 10 digs of her own with a team-high .280 hitting percentage (10 kills, three errors, 25 attempts). Freshman Jene' Pulliam started and tied her season-high with 13 kills and added six digs, while freshman setter Holly Marita had 43 assists and eight digs in the loss. Hann was named to the Butler Invitational All-Tournament Team, her second all-tournament award in three weeks (Saluki Invitational).
The Salukis will open Missouri Valley Conference play next weekend with their third straight road trip of the season, when they face Creighton and Drake on September 19 and 20 respectively.
