The Southern Illinois University football team moved into the Top 25 of both major I-AA polls on Monday, entering at 21st on The Sports Network poll and 23rd on the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll.
After handily beating 22nd-ranked Southeast Missouri State on Saturday, the Salukis improved their record to 2-0, their best start since the 1999 team began the season at 3-0.
"It's a nice achievement," Saluki head coach Jerry Kill said. "But it's not a big deal. I don't put much stock in polls after just two games. Let's see where we're at when the season ends."
Last year, the Salukis spent one week at 25th in the Coaches poll, after beating Western Illinois and Northern Iowa in consecutive weeks. However, the Salukis lost their next five games to finish the season with a 4-8 record.
