CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Women's Golf team will compete Monday and Tuesday at the Shootout at the Legends in Franklin, Ind. The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday followed by 18 holes on Tuesday.
Golfing for the Salukis this tournament will be the same team from the first two tournaments of the season; Natalie Parker, Braidy Hood, Samantha Sutzer, Josie Lowder and Christine Zoerlein. Parker is leading the team in stroke average at 78.3. Hood, a freshman, is coming off a great finish at the Bay Tree Classic where she shot her career low 76. Sutzer tied with Hood for 38th place to lead the Salukis at the Bay Tree Classic. Lowder is third on the team in stroke average at 79.3, and last tournament Zoerlein shot two rounds in the 70s.
The Shootout at the Legends is full of some top schools, which will be a good test for the Salukis.
"We are up against several Big 10 schools," said Coach Diane Daugherty. "Illinois State the defending Missouri Valley Conference champions will be there, as well as several top 20 schools. This is an important tournament for us to see how we stack up in our region.
