Rinella, Yutzy named Regions Bank Scholar-Athletes of the Week

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University senior Tony Rinella and junior Johannah Yutzy are this week's Regions Bank Scholar-Athletes of the Week.
Rinella recorded four tackles, including one quarterback sack to lead the Saluki football team to a 31-20 upset of #1-ranked Western Kentucky. Rinella also recovered a fumble in the game. SIU's defense held the Hilltoppers to 197 yards passing - the first time in the last six games SIU has held an opponent to fewer than 200 yards through the air. Rinella holds a 3.40 GPA as a history major.
Yutzy led the Salukis to a 2-1 record with 43 kills in three matches last week. She hit .542 against SEMO Tuesday, posting 14 kills in 24 attacks and only one error. She also added four digs and four blocks in the five-game win.
Three days later, Yutzy hit .514 with both a season-high and personal career-best 22 kills (4 errors, 35 attempts), six digs and six blocks. She carries a 3.11 GPA in marketing.
