Cross Country places three on MVC Scholar-Athlete Team

ST. LOUIS - The Southern Illinois University women's cross country team placed three student-athletes on the 2005 Missouri Valley Conference women's Scholar-Athlete Team, the league announced Tuesday.
To qualify for the team, student-athletes must have at least a 3.00 cumulative grade point average on a 4.00 scale. They must also have reached sophomore academic and athletic standing at their institutions, and must have completed at least one full academic year at their institution.
SIU athletes earning MVC Student-Athlete Team honors for the 2005 season are juniors Katie Birn (3.50 GPA, Biology), Sarah Rinker (3.90 GPA, Social Work) and Lindsay Wagner (3.81 GPA, Elementary Education).
All three are making their second appearance on the team.
Both Saluki cross country teams finished third in the MVC Championship, held Oct. 29 in Evansville, Ind. The teams return to action Saturday, Nov. 12 at the NCAA Midwest Regionals in Iowa City, Iowa.
