CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University women's golf head coach Diane Daugherty signed Braidy Hood of Coulterville, Ill. to a letter of intent for fall 2005.
Hood, currently a senior at Coulterville High School, set the low 18-hole score (67) record and averaged a 36.8 strokes per nine holes her senior season. She was named the 2004 Southern Illinois Player of the Year and was Southern Illinois Co-Player of the Year in 2003. Hood also was named to the All South team three times and finished 14th at the IHSA State Tournament her senior year.
Hood will be joining a very young Saluki team as the Dawgs currently have eight freshmen and sophomores on their 10-member roster, including one senior, Stefanie Pate.
The women's golf team will begin their spring season on March 3, as they travel to Scottsdale, Ariz. to play in the East/West Rio Verde Invitational.
